There's a certiain slant of light

                                Singing Emily Dickinson
Sachi Amano

There's a certain slant of light,
  Winter Afternoons,
  That oppresses, like the Heft
  Of Cthedral Tunes—

  Heavenly Hurt it gives usー
  We can find no scar,
  But internal difference
  Where the meanings, are—

  Now may teach it ーAny—
  'Tis the seal, Despairー
  An imperial affliction
  Sent us of the Airー

When it comes, the Landscape listensー
  Shadowsー hold their breathー
Where it goes, 'tis like the Distance
      On the look of Deathー

HOME | These are the days when Birds come back | Presentiment is that long Shadow on the Lawn | As imperceptibly as Grief | Within my reach! | Hope is the thing with feathers | Wild Night | Two Butterflies went out at Noon- | | How Happy is the Little Stone | Good night! which put the candle out? | Singing Poems | Not knowing when the dawn will come
