夏は去りぬ

悲しめてしとやかに去る

船の助け借りず

As imperceptibly as Grief
The Summer lapsed awayー
Too emperceptible at last
To seem like Perfidy—

A Quietness distilled
As Twilight long begun,
Or Nature spending with herself
Sequesterd Afternoonー

The Dusk drew earlier inー
The Morning foreign shoneー
A courteous, lyet harrowing Grace,
As Guest, that would be goneー

And thus, without a Wing
Or service of a Keel
Our Summer made her light escape
Into the Beautiful.
